Good News: These Common Supplements May Stop Progression of Type 1 Diabetes!

Good News: These Common Supplements May Stop Progression of Type 1 Diabetes!
Good News: These Common Supplements May Stop Progression of Type 1 Diabetes!

More and more, our society is becoming increasingly more aware of what we put into our bodies. We’re more cognizant of the foods that we choose to consume, we take care of our cardiovascular systems by ensuring that we exercise regularly, and we take high-quality supplements in an effort to ward off sickness and disease.

With the endless list of possible side effects and complications accompanying the use of prescription medications for the treatment of diabetes, it’s obvious why anyone who has been diagnosed with diabetes would desire a more natural approach to treatment.

With the incidence of autoimmune disorders increasing, the demand for safe and effective treatments that minimize potentially harmful side effects is on the rise. Known for their naturally anti-inflammatory properties and their ability to regulate the immune system, Vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids are both highly beneficial supplements for anyone to take – especially for individuals who have been diagnosed with a chronic medical condition like diabetes.

Recently, a young boy who had recently been diagnosed with new onset type 1 diabetes, was administered high-dose Vitamin D therapy. Over the course of several months, his insulin requirements began to decrease. When high-dose omega-3 fatty acids were added to his nutritional regimen, his insulin requirements continued to fall –  leaving his requirements to total just one seventh of what they were prior to treatment with Vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acid supplementation. With such astounding results, the way in which the boy responded to treatment caught the attention of doctors and medical researchers eager to discover the possibilities of the natural treatments as an alternative or supplement to traditionally default prescription therapies in the management of diabetes.

The publication of such results regarding new methods of treatment is essential to the progression of science and medicine in evolving the management of chronic illnesses like diabetes. The ability of Vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids to significantly improve the condition of the boy in the aforementioned case has added credibility to the requests of researchers looking to obtain FDA approval to fund studies that may be able to further explore the benefits of this natural form of therapy. With the ability to provide more detailed results across a variety of demographics, the permission to carry out more comprehensive and conclusive studies may shed even more light on the theory that nutritional deficiencies play a substantial role in the development and progression of disease processes.

As we strive to achieve a more naturally mindful society, findings like these are truly priceless. If the treatment of diabetes with Vitamin D and omega-3 therapy is proven effective, the hope that diabetics have been searching for will have been delivered. Better insulin secretion, a reduction in the requirement for insulin therapy, and improved metabolic functioning are just the surface of what truly becomes a more profound whole-body approach to health.

This all leads to an overall healthy body. The healthier you are, the lower your risk of developing diabetes related complications.
